Art Exhibit at Washington Square Park This Weekend

This weekend, come to Washington Square Park (between W 4th Street and Washington Square Place) from noon-6PM to check out the Annual Washington Square Art Exhibit.  Now in its 83rd year, the event's website, the Exhibit began in 1931 when Jackson Pollock, the American artist known for his "drip paintings," took some of his artwork and sold them on the street to raise funding to pay for his art studio.  He was soon joined by Willem deKooning, another important artist during this period.

To learn more about the details of the event, please visit http://www.wsoae.org/aboutus.html. The Exhibit will be held over two weekends starting tomorrow and it's free to attend.

Shake Shack Coming to Grand Central Station

Yep, it's coming to Grand Central Terminal. Danny Meyer's Shake Shack will be located in the space that was formerly occupied by Mexican restaurant, Zocalo.  I browsed through a few blogs to see if there is a target date for opening.  AMNY reported on May 8, 2013 that it should open by the end of October.

Wafels & Dinges--Finally!

The cart with the Dinges listed
I was hanging out in the Union Square area this afternoon to do some shopping at the Greenmarket when I spotted the Wafels & Dinges food cart.  Because my doctor has alerted me to my high sugar problem,  I ended up ordering one of their mini wafels with spekuloos spread and banana dinges (toppings) and a small iced coffee to wash it down.   The spekuloos spread had the texture of peanut butter but with the taste of gingerbread--it was like eating a combination of melted peanut butter and cookie dough.  The portion was just enough to entertain my curiosity.  For more info or where to find your nearest truck in NYC, visit www.wafelsanddinges.com.

My order came in a box pictured below and the iced coffee came with a gingerbread cookie.  I saved the cookie and gave it to my daughter when I got home. She loved it and happily ate it with her milk.

I would definitely order from this food cart again, but maybe after my blood sugar levels drop-- hopefully in a few months.

Trying out Recipes at the Food Network: Homemade Saag Paneer

I live in a Brooklyn neighborhood that has a great selection of Chinese and Italian restaurants, however, I miss the variety of eating foods beyond these two types of cuisines.  So, today, I decided to make Indian--specifically, Saag Paneer.  Indian cuisine boasts some of the best vegetarian dishes in the world--hearty with lots of flavor.  The recipe I used was one by Aarti Sequeira, the Season 6 winner of Food Network Star.  To check out the recipe, visit:

Back in the Saddle Again

So I've been MIA for about two years now.  Having a child and the juggling act that followed caused me to take a step back from blogging.  But after having mastered diapers, baby purees, and mommy and me classes, it is now time to start publishing again!

More to come!
